Edgar Allan Poe acquired the ability to write Gothic horror through the tragedies that existed in his life. At three years old Poe lost his mother and father. In the short story, the nameless narrator attempts to defend his normality, yet he confesses to murdering an old man. He has nothing against this man except, his pale blue eye. In John Chuas critique, Critic Charles E. May, however, he interprets the eye bit as an organ of vision but as the homonym of I. Thus, what the narrator ultimately wants to destroy is the self, and he succumbs to this urge when he could no longer contain his overwhelming sense of guilt (Chua 351.) This irrational fear creates the conflict and leads to the narrators decision to kill the man. He watches the old man sleep every night for a week. On the eighth night the man hears the narrator and wakes up. The narrator remains in the dark room for hours until he eventually acts on his temptation, screams, and murders the old man. He carefully dismembers the body and hides him underneath the floorboards. Three police men knock on the door, after convincing the officers nothing bad happened they sit down to chat. Suddenly, the n arrator hears a noise that gets louder and louder until the narrator freaks out. At that moment, he confesses to murdering the old man and shows them where he hid the body. Denmark and America are way different from each other, but at the same time we’re a bit alike. We see a lot about the teenage lifestyle through these movies, and no matter if we want or not, then we all create an image in our heads about how the lifestyle is. I’m tempted to say that the exact opposite is the case in in the states, because in the states they are trying to find the biggest dresses, and they don’t drink. This brings me to the next subject that I want to talk about, alcohol. In America you can’t drink untill you’re twenty-one, where as here on the other side of the world, you can drink when you’re sixteen. I think both these ages are a bit ridiculous, the one in Denmark is too low, and the one in America is too high, it should be around eighteen. One thing that I don’t like about the U. S is all the crime; I know that crime is starting to escalate here in Denmark, but it’s still much worse in the U.  S. People are walking around with guns on them; children get kidnapped daily, which is the worst when that happens. When a child gets kidnapped, it’s all over the news and media, and this is called an Amber Alert. I tried that when I was in America, it was terrifying, police men everywhere, helicopters, news people reporting live twenty-four seven. Unfortunately they didn’t find the kid alive; they found the kid only a few blocks away from its house. America has a ton of fast food restaurants which of course cause all the really fat people, who can barely walk. Here in Denmark we don’t have that many fast food restaurants, but we have the most famous ones, and we’re acyually not skinny anymore. So my conclusion is that Denmark and America are different because of the rules and laws we have in each country, here I’m thinking of the drinking age and drivers license. Among all the topics given in this assignment, I have decided to choose intercultural communication as my selected topic. The overarching term intercultural communication refers to the interaction among the people of different cultures and backgrounds. With the upgrading progress of globalization, people of different attitudes and backgrounds are associated within a business organization (Casmir 2013). The business experts intend to focus on the skill and competency of an individual professional rather than their religious and cultural background. Therefore, after being amalgamated with the people of different attitudes and cultures employees can get the opportunity to become familiar with different languages. Based on the religion and cultures, the language as well as the approach of communication varies. Despite the presence of diverse cultures and religions, organizational professionals intend to make an effective communication with each other in order to exchange necessary inf ormation (Samovar et al. 2014). Intercultural communication can be conducted in two categories that include verbal communication and non-verbal communication. In most of the cases, it has been observed that people of different cultures are not flexible enough to make an effective communication at the workplace due to the linguistic barriers. In this kind of situation, the organizational managers intend to maintain non-verbal communication as well. Non-verbal communication indicates interaction between sender and receiver with the help of written communication, expression, indication and so many. Intercultural communication is highly important for evaluating the skills and mental ability of an individual. Intercultural communication helps professional to come in close contact with various kinds of people, their habits, languages and manners. I personally observed that their way of thought while making business strategic decision helped me immense to enhance my knowledge and competency. I have learnt to develop my personal manners and attitudes by observing their cultures. A large number of employees are immensely talented and skillful. Due to their language barriers, they did not get the scope to be associated with professional field.
